Miller Shoots Sizzling 69 in opening round on his way to Birdwood Open Title
Westren Albemarle's Kent Miller shot even par (69, 73) over the weekend to capture the 16 - 18 age group title. Miller's opening round 69 over Birdwood's Par 71 (hole #3 is being renovated - temporarily a Par 3 vs regularly a Par 4) included seven birdies and solid play. Logan Yates closed with a strong 73 on Sunday to claim second place.
In the 14 - 15 age division, Ian Buchanan continued his strong play shooting rounds of 75 - 77 to win first place and Owen Burns shot 76 - 81 to come in a close second. A.J. Stouffer won the 11 - 13 age division with a very solid performance of 82 - 78 over the difficult Birdwood course. Jaden Harem came in second. Lane Bazzle took top honors in the 9 -11 age division with a two way tie for second between Meade Slonaker and Walker Thompson. Dylan Sutton won the 6 - 8 age division followed closely Henry Bull.

2012 Information
Welcome back to all the FCJGT members. We have a great 2012 season scheduled including two Spring Tournaments and ten Summer Tournaments. We had one tournament in April, we have another one in May and then the season starts in earnest in June. There will be tournaments every Monday from June 11th (first Monday after school is let out) through the first week of August when the 2012 season concludes with the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP on Monday August 6th.
This year the Spring tournaments will count in the standings for "Player of the Year" awards. Additionally, the "Player of the Year" awards will be calculated using each players TOP (highest number of points) eight tournaments. Players are allowed and encouraged to play in all 12 tournaments, but only their top eight performances will be counted in the overall point total.

The season concluded with the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP being held at the prestigious Farmington Country Club - one of the best golf courses in Virginia. Please join me in thanking FCB and Mike for what they have done. The tour would not be possible without the partnership and support of our sponsors.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE FCJGT TOUR
The First Citizens Junior Golf Tour is Central Virginia's premier junior golf tour providing players from 6 - 18 years of age the opportunity to play tournament golf.
The Tour works with all area golf clubs and junior golf advocates in an effort to provide high quality, well organized, professionally run golf events. The Tour is broken up into 5 age categories (6-8, 9-11, 11-13, 14-15, 16-18) and is open to all boys and girls in the Central Virginia area. Age appropriate tees are used for all age divisions to promote a fun, fair and yet, challenging layout for each player. Players are awarded points based on their performance in each tournament and both "Player of the Year" and "Runner-Up" trophies are presently for each age group.
Approximately 100 junior golfers participated in the 2011 FCJGT Tour. Much more than golf happens at FCJGT...the kids make new/lasting friendships, strengthen existing friendships, have great fun playing tournament golf on fantastic area golf courses, learn important life skills (sportsmanship, integrity, honesty, self control, discipline), and spend time being part of a growing and fruitful program.
